Mean girls cyberbully adults on social media

mean girls

Just saw some more mean girl menopausal women gang up and attack another woman on her wall. What is it with Facebook that makes grown women act like they are seventeen year olds still in high school? Are they living out their teen fantasies by doing this stuff? Some of the language is so foul and some of the things that are said could never be repeated in any decent society. Call me naive but I just don’t get what they get out of it. You would think by the time you are an adult you would know better.

Often times these same cyberbullies are the ones that would run and hide in real life. The keyboard makes them brave. They say whatever pops into their heads accusing others of all kinds of vile deeds. Why in the world if you think someone is doing something illegal you wouldn’t go to the police and report it where something could be done I have no clue. Unless there is nothing and it is just a chance to drag others down to your imbecilic level.

Witnessing several of these attacks most of them libelous falsehoods leveled at some really decent people just out of a personal vendetta it makes me wonder about the sanity of these people. What could someone possibly get out of it?

Facebook doesn’t do a thing about it either. Many of these bullies go from victim to victim. It is a game to them to see who they can force out of social media. They are usually sociopaths with no empathy for anyone and this is how they get their thrills. They travel in gangs and attack in packs like wolves.

Real people are behind those profiles with feelings and families. Does it really make them feel better for ruining those people’s lives?? For God’s sake I wish they would grow up and stop it.

Perhaps these cyberbullies are the same ones that in school cause children to become social outcasts. The same ones that are responsible for suicides of the weakest among their victims. I wish people would speak up more against it. Maybe if decent people let them know that this behavior particularly among adults who should know better then it might stop in the schools too. Children mimic adults. What kind of lessons do they get when they see this kind of behavior from adults?? They begin to think it is cool and acceptable. If you have done this search your heart. Do you really want to be that mean girl or an example of kindness to others??

Just think before you post or join in attacking someone. There is a real person behind that screen.

  1. My mantra is the only tool you need that sharpens with use is your wit. I’m trying to teach that to my teenage son. I’ve always dealt with rude comments with a witty retort, it really pisses people off when they have no come back. My wit has served me very well over the years. I encourage everyone to fully develop theirs.

I absolutely agree with you sugar. I have been targetting by some of these awful woman. In their 50s yet act like they are some sort of godess figure. They think that nobody can see who they are, but there are ways to find them, as one of them knows. You cannot hide for ever, and karma will soon catch up with you. Think before your join one of these evil groups, its bullying on the lowest level, from behind a keyboard. Keyboard warriors are all cowards and will always be visited by karma in one way or another.

I think in many cases the issue might be that some just don’t realize how much they hurt a real person. But then I guess there are others, who just get a kick out of hunting and hurting people. How sad, really.

  4. That is why I only have folks I know in real life and family on my facebook, I seldom use it, just once in awhile as it’s cheaper and easier than making a hundred phone calls.

  5. Very true, sadly! I have seen this in action and it saddens me so much. I have been on Facebook for the past few years and I can proudly say I have never attacked someone. I wouldn’t talk like this in real life so why should I do it behind the screen?? That is just low.

    1. Most of us on Facebook don’t do that kind of thing. We have other interests and enjoy being friends and seeing what others are doing. There are some people that do it because they are too cowardly to do it in real life. There are even websites based on this kind of thing. The Dirty is one of them they had the slimeball that runs it on Dr. Phil . What a twisted individual.

  6. I don’t get it. As someone in 50ish age range, I don’t get why you would have to bully anyone at anytime. I would be interested to know the context. After raising kids and worrying about the bullying issue for decades now, I can’t see how someone can turn around and do the same.

    1. I think there are some people that just don’t grow emotionally for some reason they don’t get that it is wrong to bully others. Maybe it is because they have such a low opinion of themselves it is the only way to build themselves up. Pretty sad these bitter women never get beyond that stage.

      1. Nobody should have to do that. Most people are on social media to have fun. I have made some really good friends there. This is a fringe group that really has issues. Best to just block them and move on.

  7. I’ve never seen any incidents in which people gang up on someone or really even be mean to anyone on Facebook. I know cyber bulling exists, but I only know it to be a manifestation of real feelings someone has about someone they know and they are just more confident attacking behind a screen. What I’m trying to say is, is cyber bulling on Facebook really a thing? I suppose there are people who “friend” people they don’t actually know, but in theory, if you know everyone you “friend,” you’re in control of who you mingle with. I don’t know if facebook can do anything about it because they already have privacy controls and they don’t tell you who to be “friends” with. Am I missing something? At this point, I would just stand to believe their are enough of us who don’t bully to say something when someone else does.

  8. It’s so much easier and a great deal less stressful just to treat one another well. I go by the adage to treat others how you’d like to be treated yourself. I can sometimes snap at someone on particularly bad days, but I’ll always be humble enough to admit my wrong and am sure to emphasize that I really mean no harm. I have a temper, But it’s really my responsibility to keep it under check. I feel in my heart of hearts, that’s what truly separates the men from the boys, women from the girls etc… Besides, collaboration is always a win/win situation. I thoroughly enjoyed this though provoking post Gail! Will reblog because something like this is too important to be left on the sidelines.

    1. Thank you for reblogging I hope a lot of people do. Cyberbullying is a really big problem. Kids that are bullied in school never escape it. When I was I knew that once my door shut I was safe from it. They aren’t. It is everywhere and there are a lot of kids committing suicide. It isn’t just kids it is adults too. The more people that stand up against it the more chance we have of wiping it out. We all have moments of anger. Cyberbullying is something that soulless people do for entertainment or to make themselves feel superior. That is the difference. I don’t think you could ever be mean like that.

  10. I reblogged this.It is so important to think not only of the people who are hurt by these things, but the example we as older women are giving to young people. When people are anonymous, they sometimes become rude, like in driving. Thanks for a good post.

    1. Absolutely it is a shame but I think a lot of kids get this attitude at home and go bully other kids. Adults should know better. Thank you so much for reblogging. If one parent sits their kids down and discusses why this is wrong then we have done a very good thing.
