Broken

broken in two

She loved him so much you see

Thought he would change

Even after he hit her – HARD

He said he was sorry – SHE BELIEVED

Never going to happen again.

Until the next time he did it

AGAIN.

Left her with a black eye

She said she hit it on the door

Nobody believed

But they minded their own business.

He loved her, he really did.

Otherwise why would he be so jealous?

She was his wasn’t she?

His property, branded with pain.

They found her in the woods,

She was broken

Her skull shattered.

But she loved him

So much.

Too much.

  1. How powerful… I guess it’s something you struggle understanding if you’ve never been in the situation: Why do they not leave? I guess it’s not easy. And as you pointed out, they all think that “he” loves them… Until it’s too late… You are great with words.
